Grandpas and Grandmas, take note
Yesterday my grandpa got a phone call from some people who almost had him convinced that I had been in a car wreck in Canada and needed him to send me $6,000 via untraceable money order, without telling any family members. Apparently there are a bunch of jerks calling older people at random, using social-engineering tricks to find out the name of a grandchild, and then duping them out of cash. AARP knows about this scam, and there was even an article about it in the Tulsa World a few days ago. So if you have grandchildren, don't be duped! Call them back on their regular phone number. Don't assume you're being told the truth.
