Some things just don't go well together

Today while walking home from the bus stop I heard two sounds that should not ever be heard together: the roar of a truck that needs a quieter muffler, and the sound of a car alarm. There are only a few things wrong with this:

• a noisy muffler roaring in a residential area
• a car alarm set so sensitive that someone's noisy muffler can set it off
• the owner of the car alarm letting it run for several minutes before turning it off... what's the use? I could have stolen your stereo myself, and I don't know anything about stealing stereos.

Noise pollution at its finest...
