Many of the activities today were the same as yesterday... archery, free time, slingshot shooting (the BB Gun guy was there today, but our luck... he had to leave just before our turn! We'll get to shoot BBs tomorrow), fishing. But there were a couple of differences. The boys actually got to do an official game time this time, for one thing... they played sort of a three-legged race thing except they carried balloons between their backs. They built bird feeders with real lumber... very heavy-duty things! I'm going to get some nice-sized nails and just nail it right into the tree in our back yard. They had a "skills" lesson in First Aid (it actually was kind of rambling and not too interesting for the boys until they got to check their pulses. Fortunately all of them still had them at that point, so maybe the talk wasn't as boring for them as I thought.) They got to make these squishy things with sponges; they're for filling with water and throwing at your friends on hot summer days! And today some of the kids caught fishes during fishing time, although Mikey didn't get lucky today. One of the kids caught a huge TURTLE! (I took pictures of it, although its head was back in its shell when I took the pictures.)
I came home pooped, like yesterday... slightly damp, but not as much as yesterday... and I think a little muddier. The trails are getting REALLY tromped over, and there are some serious mud-pit places that you just can't get around any more. Maybe they baked a little bit this afternoon after the kids left and they'll be a little better tomorrow.
Don't miss today's batch of pictures!
POSTSCRIPT: as I was thinking about this post a few hours after I made it, I remembered something that definitely needs to be included. On the way home from camp today, I asked Mikey what the funnest part of camp today was. Was it archery or fishing? Slingshots? Playing games? His answer was that the funnest part was when one of the dads killed a wasp by swatting it with his ball cap and the wasp went flying straight up into the air before falling back down to the table. Sheesh, if I had known that ahead of time I could have taken him somewhere with a wasp, smacked it with a ball cap, and saved myself fifty bucks.
